We run treks in the Annapurna region from Pokhara: Ghorepani Poon Hill (4 days, up to 3,210 m), Mardi Himal (5 days, up to 4,200 m) and Annapurna Base Camp (10 or 12 days, up to 4,130 m). See every trek, with its itinerary and altitude profile, on our Trips page.
Himalayan Trek Quest plans and runs your trek, from your first enquiry to the end of the trail, with licensed local guides.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring the most settled weather and clearest mountain views. Winter treks are possible on lower routes such as Poon Hill but are cold at height. The monsoon, June to August, brings rain, leeches and cloud.
You should be comfortable walking 5 to 7 hours a day for several days in a row, with long flights of stone steps up and down. No climbing skills are needed. Regular hill walks with a loaded daypack, stair climbing and cardio for 6 to 8 weeks before you travel make a real difference. Each trek page explains what to expect.
Our itineraries climb gradually, and guides check every trekker each evening for signs of altitude sickness. Anyone with symptoms does not climb higher, and descends if needed. Drink plenty of water, walk at a steady pace and tell your guide how you feel.
Since April 2023, foreign trekkers in Nepal's national parks and conservation areas, including the Annapurna region, must trek with a licensed guide. All our treks include one.
Annapurna treks need an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a TIMS card. We arrange the permits included in your trip; send us a copy of your passport and a photo when we ask for them.
