Permits and rules
Since 1 April 2023 Nepal's rules say foreign trekkers need a licensed guide on most Himalayan routes, but what happens on the trail differs by region. Here is what applies in Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Mustang and the Kathmandu Valley for 2026–2027.
