Responsible travel is not about being a perfect visitor. It is about noticing how your choices affect the people, places and wildlife around you, then making better decisions where you can. Nepal’s mountains and heritage sites attract travelers from around the world, and even small habits—how you dispose of rubbish, choose a guide or take a photograph—shape the experience for everyone.
Spend locally, and spend fairly
Use locally owned guesthouses, cafés, shops and guides when they fit your needs. Ask what is included in a trekking package and how staff are supported. A very low price can sometimes mean someone else is absorbing the cost, so compare like with like rather than choosing on price alone. For crafts, ask about the maker and materials instead of assuming every item is locally produced.
